- The disease is often derived from microorganisms with many spreading of microorganisms and one of them is spread by respiratory infection and mouth, extract ethanol gelugur (Garcinia atroviridis) has been shown to contain phenolic compounds as antibacterial activity by previous research with MIC values against Staphylococcus aureus 0.08% and 0.56% KBM Hence, this study aims to formulate a hand gel sanitizer gelugur sour fruit ethanol extract for the prevention of bacteria on the hands with hand sanitizer carbomer 940.Gel ethanol extract gelugursour fruit (Garcinia atroviridis) formulated with different concentrations of the extract which is 4% and 5%. Antibacterial testing method by using the method of diffusion wells.Hand gel sanitizer tested physical properties, including viscosity test, organoleptic test, homogeneity test, and test the ph.The results obtained from the measurement of the diameter of inhibition zone after formulated in hand gel sanitizer have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. On hand sanitizer gel with the addition of ethanol extract of fruit acids obtained gelugur4% inhibition zone of 9.00± 0.50 mm, hand sanitizer gel with the addition of ethanol extract of tamarind fruit gelugur 5% obtained the highest inhibition zone of 12.33 ± 1.25 mm, at Positive controls have inhibitory of 0.6000 ± 0.168 mm, and the negative control did not have inhibitory toward staphylococcus aureus bacteria.Good’s organoleptis testing is formula 1 on hand gel sanitizer with 4% concentration of the extract gelugur fruit.
