- Staphylococcus aureus is a bacterium that cause many infectious diseases of the skin. Garcinia ethanol extract has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus with the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) by 0.08% and 0.56% minimum bantericidal concentration (MBC). This study aims to formulate a cream preparation Garcinia ethanol extract as an antibacterial against Staphylococcus aureus. Creams were made with type W/O with various concentrations of extract 4% and 6%, preparations also performed physical test that are organoleptic test, viscosity test, test the pH, spreading test, adhesion test and protective test. The results showed that Garcinia ethanol extract cream has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus with inhibition zone of 9.73 ± 0.11 mm in the cream formulation contains Garcinia 4% ethanol extract and for a cream formulation of Garcinia 6% ethanol extract has a zone of inhibition of 13.36 ± 0.41 mm. For the test results of the physical properties of the cream preparation of the Garcinia ethanol extract have pH of 2.5-3 which indicates that very sour cream. The higher the concentration of the extract, the pH, viscosity and stickiness of the cream is getting lower, whereas dispersive power cream is getting higher
