  • Pregnancy causes the mother need more nutrient than before pregnancy. One of the main nutrient intake is carbohydrates. The excessive carbohydrate intake can induce pregnancy is diabetogenic so to the risk of causing gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Date palm contain carbohydrates that can meet energy intake without increase blood glucose levels. This study aims to determination of the effect giving the ajwa dates (Phoenix dactylifera) extraction with various dose to the blood glucose levels of pregnant mice’s (Mus musculus). This was an experimental research Complete Randomized Design using 24 pregnant mice. The extraction of dates by methanol maseration method was given to 4 treatment groups: control groups (aquades), K3 (3.12 mg/kgBB), K5 (5.2 mg/kgBB) and K7 (7.28 mg/kgBB) to mice at 14 days of pregnancy for 5 days. This research showed the most optimal dose in controlling blood glucose levels in pregnant mice was group K7 (dose 7,28 mg/kgBB). This is due to the content of fructose in dates that gives hypoglycemic effect. Dates also contain active compounds such as flavonoids that act as antioxidants. The result of One Way ANOVA statistic analysis showed p=0,8555 (p>0,05). This indicates that the giving of the ajwa dates (Phoenix dactylifera) extraction does not give significant efeect to blood glucose level of pregnant mice (Mus musculus).
