- English is one the international languages, taught in elementary school as a loca content subject and in junior high school until universities as acompulsory subject. English has four skills such as writing, reading, speaking, and listening. Writing is the most difficult subject in English. Sometimes, students get some difficulties to find the idea in writing paragraph. Here, the researcher used a method which can help the students in writing class. The researcher used problem based instruction in her research. The objective of this study can be stated as attempt to describe how problem based instruction is implemented to the ninth year students in writing class, describe whether the use of problem based instruction improve students writing competence or not and to find out the students’responses toward the implementation of this method.
