(2) What are the effects of the vocabulary difficulties to their English skill? (3) What caused those problems according to students' perceptive? (4) How do they solve the problem? (5) How effective were solutions according to them? The research design used in this study was descriptive research. The population was the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th semester of English department students. There were 340 students were researcher took as the population. The data were collecting through interview and questionnaire then analyzed using percentage. The finding of this study shows that: The problems faced by the students in learning English vocabulary were: 1. Students difficulty in word classes, were 27%, homonym 58%, homophones 84%, homograph 86%, polysemes 82%, affixation 75%, synonym and antonym 45%, hyponym 95%, and word formation 54%. 2. The effect of difficulty in learning English vocabulary to students English skills, were: - The students do not understand most of vocabulary they found from reading book. - The students cannot speak fluently in speaking class, because they lack of useful vocabulary to express their opinions. - The students take a lot of time in writing, because of their lack in vocabulary. - The students felt difficult to identified homophones and homonyms in listening. 3. The factors of students' difficulties in learning English vocabulary were: - Rarely to practice new vocabulary, lazy to check difficult word on dictionary, lazy to memorize English vocabulary, lazy to read text book or article in English, difficult to memorize a similar vocabulary, unsupported environment to practice English, mother tongue influence, forgettable and the last was self in confidence and last motivation. 4. Solutions used by students in vocabulary difficulty. By memorization, listening to the English song, making a translation of a song lyrics, watching and listening English news, watching English movie, reading easy English book or article, making a difficult words list, making vocabulary as a game between friend, writing short message in English, comprehending the way to write and read a word, and no answer. 5.
