- The change of the Indonesian traditional life into a modern one with the sophistication of technology has forced the Indonesian people to accordingly lead modern style of living. The slow but sure change has become revolutionary owing to the global informing media. The charm of television has turn the Indonesian people’s attention to sundry recreational patterns. This process moves so fast that it is hard to be rivaled by the traditional art lives. The worse thing is that there are so many Indonesian traditional performances which are on the brink of extinction and they miss adequate documentation. The policy of utilizing the audio-visual technologies to preserve performing arts can be adopted as a reason to conserve scientifically study those art works. The documentation of the arts will serve as a link between one generation to another through adequate information. The future documentation of the Indonesian traditional performing arts will become the full responsibility of the youngers generation. So, the effort of making people aware of the importance of documenting performing arts will enhance appreciation toward art works.
