  • In the last decades, the use of computer becomes a new trend in education. Students and teachers are aware that they really need a computer as a media for the learning activity. In supporting the development of students‘ language competence and skills, therefore, the Computer-Assisted Language Learning is developed to assist students to be more autonomous. On the other hand, students who learn English as a foreign language also need a teacher to become their facilitator in the teaching learning activity because he or she plays an important role for them in enhancing and mastering English. The aim of this paper is to find out the advantages and disadvantages of these two opposing treatments to the English learning activity, and how CALL and learning English with teacher assistance can be applied to support the students‘ English mastery.
