Daftar Isi:
- In term ofchoral music, the choral society today, often refers to the music by G. F. Handel rather than any other composers. People usuallyfamiliar with the customary performance ofHandel ’s famous oratorio work, in particular the performance of “The Messiah” by a mixed-voice amateur choir, or several hundred voices accompanied by an orchestra in a concert-hall, or a few dozen voices accompanied by the organ in church or chapel. However, it is hard to understandfully the musical world of George Frideric Handel (1685-1759). In fact, knowing the music of “The Messiah” does not mean that we automatically understand many other Handel ’s oratorios. And, knowing Handel ’s oratorios would not be equivalent with knowing Handel himselffully as a choral composer. We must also see thoroughly at his English church anthems composed in German Baroque style.
