  • Novel as one of the genres of literature is created as a reflection of human life. It holds many values that are very important and invaluable to be learnt. One of the values is the human values. It is values that are related with the real life. There are three types of human values; psychological value, the social, and the metaphysical value. The writer chooses “The Little Prince” which was written by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. This study is considered as a qualitative research. In this study, the writer focuses on the analysis of the characters and the little prince for the human values. The writer uses the objective theory by M.H. Abrams and the theory of human values by K. L. Knickerbocker. After doing the analysis, the writer finds that the prince traits; curious and naïve reflect the children’s traits. For the other characters, the writer finds that their traits like polite, hardworking, demanding, and prideful reflect the traits of the adults. The writer also finds two human values in the character the prince; the psychological values and the social values. The psychological values that the writer finds in the prince are perseverance, curiosity, kindness and diligence. There are two social values that the writer finds in the prince, which are caring (with the pilot) and caring and responsibility (with the flower). Finally, after finding out the characters traits and human values in the little prince, the writer hopes that this study can become a good reference for the adults in raising their children and also for the students of English Department who want to do the same research about human values or the same research about the novel “The Little Prince”.
