  • Since Language consists of four skills namely, Listening, Speaking,Reading and Writing, and writing is considered to be the most difficult one, the writer then tries to prove what is the correlation between that most difficult skill and the other skill, in this part, Reading. In proving the correlation of those two skills, she chooses the achievements in Reading and Writing of the sixth semester students in the school year of 1984-1985 and 1985-1986 at the English Department of Widya Mandala University. She would like to prove whether the students who get high scores in Reading test will get high scores as well in the Writing test, and vice versa, and what is the significant between that correlation. In so doing, she also formulated that the scores of the students in the areas of those two skills are reliable measurements of their performance in those areas. Besides, the teachers of Reading and Writing classes during those school year are all qualified in doing their jobs.
