- The effect of Syzygium polyanthum (SP) water fraction in the innate immunity of male Wistar rats with Staphylococcus aureus (SA) induced have been conducted. Fifteen Wistar rats were divided into 3 groups of five; negative control group (treated by 0.9 % NaC/); treatment group (treated by SP water fraction 200 mgl kg BW); and positive control group (treated by ibuprofen 400 mglkg BW). The treated rats were terminated an hour after SA induction. Neutrophils was measured under light microscope and IL-6 level was analyzed by ELISA. The statistical analysis indicated that SP water fraction does not decrease number of neutrophils and IL-6 level on SA-induced male Wistar rats.
