- This study focuses on the experienced of adherence and self care of Diabetic elderly toward oral hypoglycemi and insulin therapy. A phenomenological qualitative design was chosen to obtain experience of 12 participants. Determined using a purposive sampling method. A semi-structured interviews were tape recorded. Theme emerged from the Colaizzi’s qualitative content analysis were: self adjusment in taking medication for Diabetes Melitus, self control in insulin injection, insulin injection gives a hope to control blood glucose level, psychologycal problems caused by long term therapy, negative impact non-adherence is not realised, aging process influences self care experience toward oral hypoglychemi and insulin therapy. This study concludes that non-adherence toward oral hypoglycemia and insulin therapy among elderly with type 2 Diabetes are not realized, while experience of self care are influenced by the aging process. It recommended that intervention to raise the elderly self awareness toward non-adherence and to train an appropriate self care toward oral hypoglychemi and insulin therapy are required as parts of elderly in type 2 Diabetes management.
