Daftar Isi:
- Computer-Assisted Instruction software which refers to the use of computers for the delivery of instruction in an interactive mode usually connotates a programmed instruction approach. Programmed-instruction based CAI basically manifested behavioral psychological principles of instruction (stimulus-response-feedback). This type of CAI is product-oriented which involves identifying the relationships between two factors: instructional manipulations and observed performance as a result of those manipulations. Whithin the behaviorist perspective, both are externally observable and measurable events, and the goal of education can be seen as the design of the learning environment in such a manner as directly and predictably to influence student performance. CAI software of this type has dominated the educational software market since the appearance of the personal computer in 1975 despite its significant weaknesses. The weaknesses result from the learning theory on which it is based, i.e. the behaviorale learning theory. This paper discusses the weaknesses of CAI software which is developed based on the model of learning theory and tries to overcome the weaknesses of CAI which result from the learning theory underpinning the CAI software.
