  • This study investigated the phenomenon of code-switching, which happened in a podcast video on Youtube. This study aimed to reveal the types and reasons of code-switching found in the YouTube video “Nessie Judge, Loe Tau yang Nonton Gue Cuma 100 Orang?!” on Deddy Corbuzier’s YouTube channel. The speakers in the video were Deddy Corbuzier as the host and Nessie Judge as the guest. This research used a qualitative approach. The data were taken from the utterances made by the speakers in the video. Hoffman’s and Poplack’s theories of code-switching were used to analyze the obtained data. The findings show three types of code-switching found in the video: inter-sentential switching, intra-sentential switching, and tag switching. The findings also reveal seven reasons why the speakers used code-switching. They are talking about a particular topic, interjection, being emphatic about something, expressing identity of the group, intention of clarifying the speech content for the interlocutor, quoting somebody else, and repetition used for clarification. The result shows that the most common type used in the video was intra-sentential switching, and the most common reason which makes the speakers used code-switching was talking about a particular topic.
