- This study is a descriptive qualitative study on teachers’ perception of the virtual cultural exchange program which makes use of social media (whatsapp, line, flicker, and instagram) as media to exchange culture and enhance students’ English learning. This research was started with a virtual cultural program in the form of Teddy Bear Exchange program which involved some schools around the world. The program itself was initiated by an elementary school in Taiwan. In its practice, the program also involved schools in Indonesia. Some of those schools were involved in this study. The schools involved in this study were Gong Yuan Elementary School di Tainan, Taiwan, Hsin Chya Elementary School, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, SD Kuncul Melati, and SD Terang Bangsa Semarang. The data were collected through interview and observation. The results of the study showed that eight teachers under this study had positive perception towards the virtual cultural exchange program. They saw some positive aspects of this program which was facilitating or enhancing their students’ English learning. Along with the students’ development of socio cultural competence and linguistic competence, students are also prepared to be a part of global citizens. This project can be developed as an alternative model of cultural exchange though real exposure to the target culture is still needed.
