  • Renewable energy sources have been grown rapidly. Generally, it produces a DC voltage. Converters are needed to convert DC voltage to AC voltages. DC voltage must be converted to AC voltage because AC devices are more widely used. One type of AC machines which is often used in industrial applications is an induction motor. An induction motor has many advantages. It has a simple design and easy maintenance. Various developments in induction motor construction and control have been carried out. The easiest control methods are using SPWM (Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation) technique because of their simpler control. However, SPWM method produces high THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) value. In this paper, Space Vector Modulation (SVM) technique is presented to reduce THD value. SVM is also used to produce a higher voltage than SPWM. Variable Voltage Variable Frequency (VVVF) inverter based on SVM can be a solution to control the high-speed operation for induction motor. The proposed method can be widely applied for both the transportation and modern industrial sector. Simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the validity of this proposed control method.
