  • In a country where English is taught as a foreign language, teacher’s teaching techniques in English class becomes very challenging or in another word teaching English in Indonesia is quite challenging. Therefore, analyzing English teaching technique in Indonesia is one of the crucial issues within pedagogical world. These research objectives are to describe the teacher’s teaching technique particularly PPP (Presentation, Practice, and Production) technique in the classroom and the students’ expectation on the implementation of teacher’s teaching technique used by the English teacher. This study implemented a qualitative method. The setting of this research is one of the English Classes of 8th grade at SMP Negeri 38 Semarang. The result shows that the teacher implements the teacher’s teaching technique using PPP. Furthermore, teacher's characteristics expected by the students toward the implementation of PPP technique are empathetic, enthusiastic, and humorous. Teacher should understand students as individuals, intelligent, fair to all students, and show respect for students.
