  • The purpose of this study was to find out the correlation of emotional intelligence and work performance salesperson in the retail industry. The hypothesis is “There is a correlation between emotional intelligence with work performance”. This study has 40 of salespersons. Emotional intelligence scale and work performance scale are used for measuring instrument for this study. The measuring instrument has been tested for validity and reliability. The analytical technique are used product moment correlation. The result of the study showed no correlation (rxy=-0,009, p ≤ 0,001). Thus the hypothesis is rejected, so the concluded is there was no correlation between emotional intelligent with work performance in the retail industry.
