- Newspaper has become one of the sources of information for many people for many years. There was one thing that a reader might see first before reading the news. It was the title of the news. A title should reflect the content of the news. However, due to the limited space of the newspaper column, the title might have more than one meanings and lead to ambiguity. The ambiguity arises if the title may have more than one meaning. According to Kreidler (1998), there are three kinds of ambiguity. They are lexical, referential, and syntactical ambiguity. In this study, the writer saw the ambiguity which appeared on an online media, thejakartapost.com. She found out that the three kinds of ambiguity presence in the news written in thejakartapost.com.
