  • In educational world, English has been a compulsory lesson in elementary school, junior high school, and senior high school. English teachers have important parts to determine students‟ achievement. Considering English as a foreign language in Indonesia, it becomes a challenge for the teachers. Furthermore, English is not used for students‟ daily conversation. Nevertheless, what kind of challenges that are faced by Indonesian teachers in teaching English? This thesis analyze teachers‟ problems in teaching English that become challenges for them. For collecting the data, the writer interviewed some English teachers (two male teachers and three female teachers) from some senior high schools in Pekalongan. The data that are depicted in the analysis were collected by the informants and supported by other existed sources. The results were interpreted to answer the research question. The writer found out that there are some challenges which are faced by informants such as curriculum challenge, large class challenge, students‟ contribution challenge and etc.
