- The conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo led the United Nations to send the UN Peacekeeping Force to the country. In carrying out its mandate in the Democratic Republic of the Congo the UN Peacekeeping Force was attacked by one of the conflicting parties. The purpose of this research is to find out and analyze the legal protection of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which was attacked by rebel groups. This research was conducted with a normative legal research method that focuses on legal norms. Based on the results of research conducted by analyzing international humanitarian law regulations, the legal protection of UN Peacekeeping Forces is regulated in Geneva Convention IV in 1949, Additional Protocol II of 1977, and the Convention on the Safety of the United Nations and Associated Personnel. Based on these regulations the UN Peacekeeping Force based on the mandate given is not a conflicting party and therefore has the right to protection provided for in Geneva Convention IV in 1949, Additional Protocol II 1977, and the Convention on the Safety of the United Nations and Associated Personnel and not may be attacked.
