  • A research with the title of “The Role of KratonKasultanan Yogyakarta in preventing the Transition of Sultan Ground to Property Right after the enactment of Law Number 13 of 2012 concerning the Privileges of Special Region of Yogyakarta” intends to analyze several problem about How is the role of KratonKasultanan in preventing the transition of Sultan Ground to property right after the enactment of Law Number 13 of 2012 concerning the privileges of Special Region of Yogyakarta and What are the obstacles that occurs during the prevention process of the Sultan Ground transition to property right. This research aims to investigate concretely about the prevention process of the Sultan Ground transition to property rights after the enactment of Law Number 13 of 2012 as well as the obstacles that occur during the prevention process which was conducted by KratonKasultanan. This research was under the normative-empirical method, which refers to a legal study that examines every implementation towards the positive legal regulations in a factual manner of any particular legal events in society. This research uses a secondary data which consists of a primary legal materials and secondary legal materials. The results of this research indicate that the absence of a strong national legal basis before the enactment of DIY Privileges Act became the factor of Sultan Ground transition. According to the legislation, KratonKasultanan as the subject of property rights has several authority to endeavor Sultan Ground so that the transition can be prevented. The obstacles in the prevention process were experienced by the KratonKasultanan and the Department of Land and Spatial Planning as the facilities which owned by the KratonKasultanan.
