- Pollution of the irrigation channels happened in Bantul Regency, specifically in Karangnongko, Sewon Subdistrict, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Province. The irrigation channel pollution has been occurred for approximately 15 ( fifteen ) years. The community in Karangnongko experience the impact of the irrigation canal pollution. The research problem focuses on the effort of the Department of the Enviroment as government is solving cases of pollution of irrigation channels in Bantul Regency. This research uses empirical legal methods carried out by interviews and literature studies. The research location is carried out in Bantul Environmental Service Offices and Yogyakarta Special Region Enviromental and Forestry Service Offices. The data analysis gathered in this research is throught qualitative method. The result of this research is that the role of the Environmental Agency is as a facilitator and mediator or neutral party in resolving irrigation canal pollution cases in Bantul Regency. The obstacles of the Department are lack of the communication and lack of knowledge of community and companies regarding the environmental problems.
