- Along with the times in the field of technology and information today, many crimes are committed in cyberspace, one of which is the hijacking of private social accounts. In writing this thesis the author aims to provide more knowledge about the strategies of the police investigators in handling cases of social media account piracy. The type of legal research used is a type of normative legal research that focuses on the prevailing legislation. According to the final results of the authors, Yogyakarta Special Territory Police Investigators in handling social media account piracy cases have several strategies, namely making an investigation plan, determining the personnel involved, knowing the cases to be handled, determining the time and place of implementation, carrying out cyber patrols, arresting account owner, after the arrest is made, the police will interrogate the account owner to find witnesses who will be used as evidence in the case of hijacking social media accounts.
