- Marriage is the right of every individual which is regulated in national legislation as well as in customary law. Pada Gelahang marriage is one of a traditional kind in Bali. Although it appears to be an exclusion, this kind of marriage is considered as a recognized one in Bali. Therefore, the title “Sahnya Perkawinan Pada Gelahang sebagai Pengecualian Bentuk Perkawinan pada Masyarakat Hukum Adat di Bali” was thought as the ideal title to be taken in this study. The problem arisen was to know how legal the Pada Gelahang marriage appears to be an exclusion on Balinese people conventionally which also became the basic purpose of this study. Furthermore, methodologically, normative method was chosen for this study to be conducted along with the result and the analysis which showed Pada Gelahang is a recognized marriage held in Bali in terms of customary and national law which is stated in Indonesian marriage legislation. A meaningfull about terns of legitimate marriage, a housband wife position, treasure and child status accordingly, Pada Gelahang has completely fulfilled the constituents which have been set and mentioned in the marriage law so that it becomes officially a rightful marriage in national legislation. Even though, it is still known as an exclusive conventional marriage happens in Bali, yet, eventually Pada Gelahang becomes an alternative option when the bridegrooms are the only child in the family.
