- The background of this legal research is the damaged of coral reefs in the territorial waters of Raja Ampat by the Caledonian Sky Ship. The damaged affects the sustainability of marine ecosystems and caused the loss of fisherman employment in Raja Ampat. The Caledonian Sky has violated several Indonesia maritime laws and the provision on United Nations Convention On The Law Of The Sea. The purpose of the legal research is to analyze the effort of Indonesian Government to handling the destruction of coral reefs in the territorial waters of Raja Ampat by the Caledonian Sky Ship. The method of this legal research is normative legal research which is this legal research are collected through literature study and interview with the related parties. This legal research found that The Caledonian Sky Ship has violated a regulation of The Law of Republic Indonesia Number 32 of 2009 Concerning Protection and Management of Environment and the international convention. Accordingly, the Indonesian government is supposed to be strict to the implementation of this regulation and made a recovery effort for the damaged of coral reef.
