- The first cases of COVID-19 were reported in December 2019 when a group of patients was admitted to hospitals in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province in China, caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). Initially, the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 was confined to Hubei province, but it rapidly spread to many other countries, compelling the World Health Organization to officially declare a global pandemic on March 11, 2020. In general, coronaviruses cause widespread respiratory, gastrointestinal, and central nervous system diseases in humans and other animals, threatening human health and causing economic loss. There are many controversies surrounding this disease, such as management therapy, and prevention. Therefore, i conducted a review of current literatures related to COVID-19. In this literature review, the causative agent, virology, transmission, pathogenesis, risk factors, symptoms, treatment and management of the disease, are all reviewed.
