- The development of 3D animation technology has been rapidly advanced, making the process of creating simulation involved large number of objects in real-time scenario and produce a dynamic 3D environment possible. Earthquake evacuation plan is one type simulation that involves large number of object and dynamic 3D environment. To provide clear information to viewers how the evacuation should be done when an earthquake occurred in a multi-story building, cinematography plays an important role in providing such information so that the viewer does not miss important information when an earthquake occurred. In this paper, we present a fully automated, real-time system that is able to capture events occurred in emergency simulations in machinima virtual world, select relevant shot based on finite state machine and cinematography principles, control the virtual camera such that the events of interest are properly captured and implemented camera shake and camera blur to make occurring event look more realistic, and also implement crowd simulation using steering behaviour for the crowd. To illustrate how the system works in practice, we also describe the application of automatic cinematography for earthquake simulation
