- This objectives of this study were to determine the growth ansd development of rice (Oryza sativa L. var Ciherang) cultured in hydroponic system and irrigated with 1/4 strength MS medium. Ciherang rice needed about 99.0 ± 1.0 days and 137.0 ± 2.7 days to reach heading and harvesting stage, respectively. Shoot length of Ciherang rice at heading stage was 80.7 ± 7.1 cm. The length of panicle, number of spikelet per panicle and percentace of grain film were 21.0 ± 1.0 cm, 83.0 ± 13.0 and 88.7 ± 13.4, respectively. All of those result indicated that Ciherang rice was able to complete it growth and development when cultured in hydroponic system irrigated by 1/4 strength MS medium. However, Ciherang rice cultured in hydroponic system took longer time to reach harvesting stage compared to ciherang characters released by Puslintan Indonesia
