  • As a coal mining company in Indonesia and part of the Sinarmas Mining Group, PT Berau Coal runs mining activities at 4 separate sites, namely the Lati, Binungan, Sambarata and Gurimbang sites with the support of 20,685 mining workers from 215 mining service companies and 2,203 units of heavy equipment. With the complexity of this mining operation and referring to KEPMEN ESDM No.26 Tahun 2018, companies must manage mining safety in each of their operational activities. The derivative of this regulation also stipulates that in the event of a mining accident which results in death, the company is asked to temporarily stop all its activities until the investigation has been followed up or mining activities can be ascertained safely. To manage mining safety, the company has built a technology platform SID (Single Identity System) and BEATS (BeGeMS Auto Tracking System). However, the adoption of this technology by workers and supervisors is still low, hazard report, inspection and observation performance, follow up and on time follow up using BEATS by supervisors is still low. The purpose of this research is to propose improvement initiatives for SID and BEATS in PT Berau Coal. From the analysis, there are 3 solutions that can be done by developing a gamification feature, an integrated working permit and an embedded notification with SID and BEATS.Keywords: Mining safety, Single Identity System, BeGeMS Auto Tracking System, safety accountability
