  • Fiber of palm oil waste was the biggest waste in palm oil factory. The waste has not optimally being used. It is only used as paper industry raw material and as fuel. This research was done to determine the type and composition of carotenoid from fiber of palm oil waste with the use of High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) equipped with photo-diode array detector. The compotition of carotenoids analyzed on 9 different wavelength between 400 and 900 nm. The results showed that 5 carotenoids peaks were found on palm oil fiber waste. The 3rd and 4th identidied as -carotenoids and cis-β-caroten, whereas no identification were found on the rest of the peaks. The possibility is that those peaks are carotenoid degradation products. The average at wavelength composition between 400 and 600 nm are peak 1> peak 5>peak 4>peak 2>peak 3, respectively.
