- Experts have reported that family influences the development of its members. Cohesive family system tends to support normal development of the youths; whereas the disengaged structured and disengaged rigid family systems tend to create problematic youth. Inconsistent or rigid rules in a family system tend to develop psychological problems in adolescents. Inconsistent rules in the family system tend to create maladaptive responses and feeling of being neglected among adolescents. Rigid family system tends to create stress and rebellious behavior in adolescents. The rebellion includes run away from home and other social problems such as delinquency, drug related problems, sexual promiscuity, prostitution, low self-esteem and suicide.
