- Solar water heaters have offered widely. Pipes as water channel that attached with absorber plate as fin is used as solar collector in these devices. In this solar collector type, using of thermal energy that absorbed by absorber plate is less due to thermal contact resistance between absorber plate and pipes. Heat loss will occur in this area. To reduce the heat losses, solar water heater with parallel plate as an absorber plate has been developed. The parallel plate solar collector is most useful to gain thermal energy absorption from solar radiation. So the more heat will be absorbed by water as a working fluid in this device. The design of this device used iron plate as an absorber plate. And the working fluid flow with natural circulation system. From the experiment result, it was obtain that the time needed of this device to raise temperature of water in 145 liter storage tank reach 50oC about 2 hours for water mass flow rate of 0.6 kg/minute.
