- The purpose of this research was to know the effect of recitation learning method on the student’s cognitive learning result in the subject of history class X at SMA Negeri 1 Kotaagung academic year 2013-2014. The method used in this research was experimental method by using pretest posttest control group design. The data collection technique was using test technique, observation, documentation, and literature. The data analysis was using quantitative data analysis. The result of t test analysis was obtained that the average score of experiment class is 74,61, while the avarage score of control class is 66,72. It showed that there is positive effect on the recitation learning method of the student’s cognitive learning result in the subject of history class X at SMA Negeri 1 Kotaagung academic year 2013-2014.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode belajar resitasi terhadap hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada Mata Pelajaran Sejarah kelas X IPA SMA Negeri 1 Kotaagung tahun pelajaran 2013-2014. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen dengan desain penelitian pretest posttest control group desain. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik Tes, Observasi, Dokumentasi dan Studi Pustaka. Analisis data menggunakan analisis data kuantitatif. Hasil analisis uji t diperoleh nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen sebesar 74,61, sedangkan pada kelas kontrol diperoleh nilai rata-rata sebesar 66,72. Hal ini menunjukkan ada pengaruh yang positif metode belajar resitasi terhadap hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada Mata Pelajaran Sejarah kelas X IPA SMA Negeri 1 Kotaagung tahun pelajaran 2013-2014.Kata kunci : hasil belajar, mata pelajaran sejarah, metode belajar resitasi
