- The research objective to be achieved is to determine the significant effect of using talking stick learning model to visual activity and cognitive learning outcomes in social studies teaching eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Abung Pekurun. The method used in this study is the experimental method.Data collection techniques are observation and posstest. Data analysis techniques are using data analysis of quantitative data. The results showed that, the results of the analysis of U test(Mann Whitney) obtained sig.0,00 value < 0.05. And t test analysis derive a probability value 0.003 < 0.05. This study concluded that there was a significant effect of learning models using talking stick to visual activity and cognitive learning outcomes eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Abung Pekurun. Tujuan penelitian yang ingin dicapai adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh yang signifikan penggunaan model pembelajaran talking stick terhadap aktivitas visual dan hasil belajar ranah kognitif pada pembelajaran IPS siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 1 Abung Pekurun. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen. Teknik pengumpulan datanya observasi dan posstest. Teknik analisis datanya menggunakan analisis data data kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa, hasil analisis uji U (Mann Whitney) diperoleh nilai sig.0,00 < 0,05. Dan analisis uji t memperoleh nilai probabilitas 0,003 < 0,05. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan mengunakan model pembelajaran talking stick terhadap aktifitas visual dan hasil belajar ranah kognitif siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 1 Abung Pekurun.
