Selection of Some Crosses F1 Maize (Zea mays L.) at Consentration NaCl in Medium of Nutrient Culture

  • The aim of the research was to know the growth response of some crosses F1 maize at consentration NaCl in medium of nutrient culture. This research was conducted at greenhouse Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara, Medan on March to April 2017 by Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two treatment factors. Factor 1 were some crosses population consist of A : (F1) NEI 9008 x CLA 46, B : (F1)CLA 84 x NEI 9008, C : (F1) CLA 106 x NEI 9008, D : (F1) CLA 16 x CLA 84, and E : (F1) CLA 84 x P1027 and factor 2 consentration of salinity consist of 3 level NaCl (0, 50 ppm, and 100 ppm). The results of this research show that the population had significant effect of plant height, root length, weight of wet canopy, weight of dry canopy, weight of wet root, w eight of dry root, canopy root ratio, root volume, and root length. NaCl had a significant effect on cortex diameter. The interaction of population and NaCl has no significant effect. Population of B (CLA 84 x NEI 9008) is a tolerant population with stress index value < 0,5. Acceptable medium on the treatment of NaCl 50 ppm.
