- Abstrak Penelitian kuantitatif ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh permainan engklek modifikasi terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan anak kelompok B di TK YWKA Surabaya. Subyek penelitian berjumlah 21 anak kelompok B TK YWKA Surabaya. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode observasi partisipan dengan alat penilaian berupa lembar observasi dan metode dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan rumus Wilcoxon Match Pairs Test. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang menunjukkan perbedaan kemampuan membaca permulaan pada tahap pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian pre-test adalah 124 dengan rata-rata 5,9, sedangkan hasil post-test adalah 243 dengan rata-rata 11,57. Selain itu, nilai Thitung = 0 lebih kecil dari Ttabel = 59 dengan taraf signifikansi 5%. Jika Thitung < Ttabel (0 < 59) sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh permainan engklek modifikasi terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan anak kelompok B di TK YWKA Surabaya. Abstract This quantitative research was aimed to find the effect of modified engklek game to early reading skill of children group B at TK YWKA Surabaya. The subjects of research are 21 children in group B at TK YWKA Surabaya. Data collection of techniques was using the observation methods of participant with the instrument of assessment such as the observation sheets and the documentation methods. Data analysis of techniques was using the formula of Wilcoxon Match Pairs Test. Based on the results of the research, it indicates the difference of early reading skill pre-test and post-test. Pre-test, the result is 124 with mean of 5,9. Post-Test, the result is 243 with mean of 11,57. Beside, Tcalculated = 0 is less than Ttable = 59 with significance level of 5%. If Tcalculated < T table (0<59) then it can be concluded that there is effect of modified engklek game to early reading skill of children group B at TK YWKA Surabaya.
