Watching television has even become habitual activity just like we take a bath or brush our teeth. This paper will impart the history of invention of televion%2C its development in the world especially in Indonesia as well as its role and influence to the social%2C political and cultural situation recently. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Saat televisi diciptakan untuk pertama kalinya%2C penciptanya tidak pernah membayangkan bahwa alat yang dirancangnya akan menjadi alat yang luarbiasa pengaruhnya bagi peradaban dunia. Televisi bahkan telah menjadi ritual layaknya mandi dan gosok gigi saja.
