- Research on the manufacture of sago based activated carbon as a supercapacitor electrode hasbeen successfully performed. The first stage of activated carbon production was started bydrying the waste of dregs sago under sunlight and followed by an oven drying, precarbonization, milling, sieving, chemical activation with KOH solution of concentration 0,2M, pellet printing, carbonization at 600 °C followed by physics activation at temperature of850 °C and pellet polishing. The sample was dried in the oven was carried out at 110 °C andpre-carbonization was carried out at a temperature of 100 °C to 250 °C for 2 hours. Thesamples were ground using mortar and ball milling. The 0,2 M KOH activator was used toincrease the surface area of the electrode. Physical activation using H2O for 1,5 hours.Characterization of physical properties was done by measurement of density, thermal stability(TGA) and SEM and the electrochemical properties were performed by a cyclic voltammetricmethod with a various scan rate of 1, 2 and 5 mV/s. The optimum specific capacitance resultof sago based activated carbon for a supercapacitor was found at a 1 mV/s scan as high as74,85 F/g.
