- AbstrakSetiap manusia pasti memiliki rasa rendah diri atau inferiority. Inferiority ini muncul karena adanya suatuperasaan kurang berharga yang timbul karena ketidakmampuan psikologis maupun sosial yang dirasakansecara subjektif, dengan kekurangan-kekurangan yang ada pada diri seseorang. Apabila ini tidak segeradiatasi maka seseorang akan depresi atau terasing dari lingkungan sekitar. Namun rasa rendah diri atauinferiority ini dapat diatasi dengan berjuang ke arah superior atau Striving for Superiority. Seperti yangdilakukan oleh tokoh Keke dalam novel Surat Kecil Untuk Tuhan karya Agnes Davonar. Pengarangmenggambarkan inferiority yang dialami tokoh Keke dan dapat diatasi dengan bentuk sikap Striving forsuperiority. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: mendeskripsikan bentuk Striving for Superiorityyang dilakukan tokoh Keke untuk mengatasi inferiority dalam novel Surat Kecil Untuk Tuhan . Penelitian inimerupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu bentukStriving for superiority yang dilakukan Keke ada dua yaitu kompensasi dan kompleks Superioritas.Kompensasi dilakukan Keke sebagai strategi untuk menutupi rasa rendah diri (inferiority) dengankemampuan-kemampuannya yang lain. Sedangkan kompleks Superioritas dilakukan Keke untuk menutupirasa rendah diri (inferiority) dengan berpura-pura memiliki suatu kelebihan.Kata Kunci : Striving for Superiority, Kompensasi, dan Kompleks superioritas.AbstrakEverybody has inferiority. Inferiority appears because there is a less value feeling which occurs because ofpsychological disability and social which is experienced subjectively, with the weakness of someone. If thishas not been overcomed soon, someone will depress or isolated from surrounding environment. But,inferiority can be overcomed by struggling or Striving for Superiority. As it is done by the Character Keke inthe novel Surat Kecil Untuk Tuhan, the work of Agnes Davonar. The author describes inferiority ofcharacter Keke and it can be overcomed appropriately by having Striving for superiority attitude. Thepurpose of this research is to describe striving for superiority attitude which is done to overcome inferiorityfeeling of character Keke in the novel Surat Kecil Untuk Tuhan. This research uses qualitative researchmethod and uses descriptive analisys. Result of this result of there are two forms of Striving for superioritywhich is done by Keke namely compensation and superiority complex. The compensation is done by Kekeas strategy to cover inferiority through her other abilities. Meanwhile, superiority complex is done by Keketo cover inferiority by pretending as if she has a strangeness.Kata Kunci : Striving for Superiority, Compensation, and Superiority Complex.
