- Background: Hyperglycemia is one of the signs of diabetes mellitus, the disease is still being suffered by thepeople of Indonesia. Oral antidiabetic drugs mostly give unwanted side effects, then the experts developed asystem of traditional medicine for diabetes mellitus. The research aimed to determine the effect of ginger juiceon blood glucose levels and histopathological of pancreatic beta cells in male wistar rats induced by alloxan.Design and methods: An experimental study with a post-test only control group design, the study subjects whitemale wistar rats. Rats were divided into 5 groups, each group consisted of 5 rats, the group I was the controlgroup (no treatment), group II is diabetic group (negative control), group III is Ginger + diabetes group, diabetesgroup is a group IV + Ginger + glibenclamide at a dose of each half, the group is the group of diabetic + VGlibenklamid.Results: The mean blood glucose levels were highest 172.02 ? 21.40 mg / dl is the K II. Lowest mean glucose levelswere 112.72 ? 14.49 mg / dl for KV. Score the highest rates of pancreatic beta cell damage that is at the K II, whilethe lowest in the K V.Conclusion: Ginger Juice effect on blood glucose levels alloxan-induced rats. Ginger juice histopathologic effecton pancreatic beta cells alloxan-induced rats (Sains Medika, 4(2):165-173).Latar Belakang: Hiperglikemi merupakan salah satu tanda dari penyakit diabetes melitus, penyakit ini sampaisekarang masih banyak diderita oleh masyarakat di Indonesia. Obat antidiabetes oral kebanyakan memberikanefek samping yang tidak diinginkan, maka para ahli mengembangkan sistem pengobatan tradisional untuk diabetesmelitus yang relatif aman. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perasan jahe terhadap kadar glukosadarah dan gambaran histopatologik sel beta pankreas pada tikus putih jantan galur wistar yang diinduksi denganAlloxan.Metode penelitian: Penelitian eksperimental dengan post test only control group design, subyek penelitian tikusputih jantan galur wistar. Tikus dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok, setiap kelompok terdiri dari 5 ekor tikus, kelompok Iadalah kelompok kontrol (tanpa perlakuan), kelompok II adalah kelompok diabetes (kontrol negatif), kelompokIII adalah kelompok diabetes + Jahe, kelompok IV adalah kelompok diabetes + Jahe + Glibenklamid dengan dosismasing-masing setengahnya, kelompok V adalah kelompok diabetes + GlibenklamidHasil: Rerata kadar glukosa darah yang tertinggi 172,02 ? 21,40 mg/dl yaitu pada K II. Rerata kadar glukosa yangterendah 112,72 ? 14,49 mg/dl ada pada K V. Skor gambaran histopatologis rerata tertinggi kerusakan sel betapankreas yaitu pada K II, sedangkan yang terendah pada K V.Kesimpulan: Perasan Jahe berpengaruh terhadap kadar glukosa darah tikus yang diinduksi Alloxan. Perasan Jaheberpengaruh terhadap gambaran histopatologis sel beta pankreas tikus yang diinduksi Alloxan (Sains Medika,4(2):165-173).
