- Investigation on lethal effect powder seeds of Pinang (Areca catechu L.) to mortality of larva (Spodoptera litura F.), was conducted on August to October 2013 in the Laboratory of the Research Institute of Forestry Palembang and the Laboratory of Biology Faculty of Mathematics University of PGRI Palembang. Acute toxicity tests using the larva bioassay method with a time of 96 hours of application. Data were analyzed using the research results probit analysis with SPSS version 15 and the Spearman-Karber method. The results shows that seeds of Pinang can cause death larvae and relatively less toxic. Key words: Bioassay, Areca catechu L., Spodoptera litura F
