  • Aquaculture technology for shrimp that has been widely used in ponds in Indonesia is a super intensive system, using a high stocking density, which is more than 150 fish /m2. The high stocking density can cause the decrreasing water quality, so that shrimp get stress, decreased body defenses, and will be susceptible to disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between stocking density of white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) and protozoan ectoparasites infestation during rearing period in super intensive ponds. This research is a survey research, with a Cross Sectional Study Research Design; The proporsive sampling method was used at several shrimp ponds in Temaji Village, Jenu District, Tuban Regency. Shrimp samples was taken each as many as 50 individual from 3 pondswith stocking densities of 150, 200 and 300 shrimp/m2. The results showed that ectoparasites was found in white shrimp that were reared on ponds with high stocking densities (super intensive). That ectoparasites were Zoothamnium, Epistylis and Vorticella, with consecutive intensities of 278.32; 391.34 and 466.02 on shrimps that were reared with all stocking densities test, so that value classified in a heavy infestation degree. There is a less close correlation between stocking density and ectoparasite infestation in vaname shrimp in super intensive ponds, (R = 0.394) it show that an increasing in stocking density until 300 shrimp/m2 is accompanied by infestation of the three genera of ectoparasites.
