- ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas metode read aloud terhadap keterampilan menyimak anak usia 5-6 tahun. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif quasi eksperimen dengan desain between subject design. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 50 anak usia 5-6 tahun di TK Negeri Pembina Surakarta. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan tes untuk mengukur keterampilan menyimak anak. Analisis data menggunakan independent sample t-test dengan SPSS 15 for windows. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat efektivitas metode read aloud terhadap keterampilan menyimak anak usia 5-6 tahun. Metode read aloud memberikan sumbangan efektif 75,2% terhadap keterampilan menyimak anak.Kata Kunci: metode read aloud, keterampilan menyimak,pendidikan anak usia dini.ABSTRACT The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the read aloud method toward listening skills of children aged 5-6 years.The research is quantitative quasi-experimental design with between subject design. The research samples was 50 children’s among 5-6 years old of TK Negeri Pembina Surakarta. Data was collected by test to measure children’s listening skill. The researcher used independent sample t-test with SPSS 15 for windows. The result of this study showed that there is effectiveness read aloud method on children’s listening skill aged 5-6 years. Read aloud method gave an effect size 75,2% toward child’s listening skill.Keywords: read aloud method, listening skill, early childhood education.
