Daftar Isi:
- "Kluwak" (Pangium edule) is a native plant that grows in the wet tropical rain forests, including in Indonesia. This plant has several benefits. That’s the fruit can be used as a cooking spice like rawon, and that’s leaves can be used as an insecticide. But, the shell of “kluwak” can not be fully utilized. Therefore, it is necessary to do research on the manufacture of activated carbon nanopori of kluwak’s shell. In this study, activated carbon manufacturing process consists of three stages, including dehydration, carbonation and activation. Dehydration is the process of separating shell “kluwak” of impurities and water. The next process is the carbonation or authoring in airtight furnace. The results of the carbonation process is carbon. To make activated carbon into carbon activation process is carried out using a Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA), and Polyethylene Glycol (PEG). Comparison of the sample with an activator made variations, namely 1:1, and 1:2. The activation process is done at a temperature of 80 ° C for 30 min. The results of this activation BET characterization to determine the pore size and surface area of the carbon. The results showed that the activation of PEG (1:2) obtained a surface area of 258,392 m2 / g and that nanopori size is 1.132 nm. For PEG (1:1) obtained a surface area of 248,939 m2 / g with a size of 1.199 nm nanopori. While the activation of PVA (1:1) obtained a surface area of 110 711 m2 / g and that nanopori size of 1.275 nm. For activation of PVA (1:2) obtained a surface area of 157,755 m2 / g and that nanopori size of 1.132 nm. The larger surface area of the carbon pore size gets smaller so it is possible for material to be used as super capacitor electrodes which has a large capacitance value. In these studies, indicate that the PEG activators better than PVA Keywords: shell of kluwak, Nanopori Activated Carbon, PVA, PEG
