- Choiriyah. SELF REGULATED LEARNING TO IMPROVE MATHEMATICS LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT OF STUDENTS OF CLASS VII SMP NEGERI 5 SUKOHARJO. Thesis. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Sebelas Maret University Surakarta. June 2015. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of Self Regulated Learning (SRL) to improve mathematics learning achievement of students of class VII SMP Negeri 5 Sukoharjo.The method used in this research was Quasi Experimental Design. Study subjects of this research were 20 divided into a control and experiment group by matching based on SRL. The SRL data collected using MSLQ (The Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire) developed Pintrinch, et al. (1991) that had been modified by the researcher. The mathematics learning achievement data gained from test results of achievement through written tests and assignments given by the teachers. Data analysis used was from Mann Whitney and Wilcoxon help by IBM Statistic 20.The result shows that SRL can improve mathematics students’ mathematics learning. The improvement occured because the growth of learning motivation and affectiveness of the use of learning strategies. The motivation to learn grew from students’ conviction that they can achieve the goal. The flexibility of the use of learning strategies was influenced the learning models applied by the teachers and modeling.Conclusions of this research is Self Regulated Learning effective to improve mathematics learning achievement of students of class VII SMP Negeri 5 Sukoharjo. keywords: Self regulated learning, mathematics learning achievement, learning motivation, learning strategies
