- The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of group guidance buzz group discussion technique for increasing social interaction the first grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gondangrejo year 2012/2013.This research is an action research of guidance and counseling that is held in two cycles, cycle I and cycle II. Every cycle consists of planning activity, action, evaluation, analysis, and reflection. The subject of this study is the first grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gondangrejo that infrequent social interaction with peers consists of 12 students. The action that is used in this study is group guidance buzz group discussion technique which is the service of group guidance that is held by discussing in the small groups to solve the social problems that were happened in the student. The source data of this studies is students who selected as subject and counselor of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gondangrejo. The technique of collecting data is by questionnaires of social interaction of the students. Validation of the data is using triangulation of data source and method. The analysis of the data using percentage analysis of D. L Godwin and T. J Coates further clinical analysis.The result of this studies shows that the service of group guidance buzz group discussion technique can increase the social interaction of the students. This result is obtained from the increases score pretest and the posttest of cycle I score and posttest cycle II score. The average number of the pretest score is 42,08 in the action of cycle I, there is an increases of 24,42%, but those result is not significant yet because of its changing reached is under the success indicator of 50%. In the cycle II there is a significant increases in the amount of 52,53 %, so based on this result can be said that the action in cycle II is success.Based on this research, it can be said that the group guidance of discussion technique buzz group is effective for increasing the social interaction of the students class VII SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gondangrejo.
