- The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of group guidance services through work type role play to improve student career understanding. This research was conducted in fifth grade students of SD N 4 Wonogiri Academic Year 2013/2014. This research is experimental research design using Quasi Experimental Non Equivalent Control Group Design, two groups each of which acts as an experimental group and control group, by conferral a pretest in both groups, conferral of treatment in the experimental group, and ends with conferral posttest in both groups in order to compare the results of both groups .The conferral of group guidance services through work type role play performed four meetings. The population is fifth grade student of SD N 4 Wonogiri, the conferral of sample using purposive random sampling. The technique of collecting data using questionnaires with criteria r count > r table. The results of the validity test questionnaire pointed out that there are 75 valid items. Data analysis using SPSS Statistics 17.0 with technique independent Samples T Test. Based on data analysis between the experimental group and the control group can be seen that the group guidance services through work type role play effectively improve students career understanding. This evident is from t count 7.148 > t table 2.086 with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, then Ho is rejected and Ha accepted. Thus, this hypothesis is accepted, which means there is a significant difference in career understanding between experimental group and the control group.The conclusions of this research is group guidance services through work type role play effectively improve students’ career understanding of fifth grade SD N 4 Wonogiri Academic Year 2013/2014 .
