- Cretinism is a abnormality or disorder caused by disfunction ofthyroid glands which produced the thyroid hormone. There are two kinds of cretinism, endemic cretinism and sporadic cretinism. Endemic cretinism is caused by deficiency al iodine and sporadic cretinism also known as congenital hypothyroid is caused by abnormality of thyroid glands.
