- The Role Of Cadre On Malaria Case Finding By Cadre In Guntur Village, Bener, Purworejo District. The village of Guntur, in Bener subdistrict, is the only one with high case incidence (HCI) among 27 villages in this area, with the annual parasite incidence (API) of 9,02 %oo in 2005. Since the active case finding done by Juru Malaria Desa (JMD) was abandoned in September 2005, an approach has been taken to overcome this situation, i.e. in October 2005, village malaria cadres ware given trainings to identify clinical malaria sign and symptoms, and also to make malaria blood smear from afinger prick. The case findings were reported to the health center, through a certain mechanism which had been developed before according to the village situation, parasitological confirmation done by microscopy examination, standard antimalaria treatment by species given to the positive cases. The study which was carried out from October 2005 to September 2006, shows that malaria case finding activity using village trained cadres could be developed properly in a remote area which is far from the access to the health facility. Eight point ninety four percent (8,94%) positive malaria cases were detected by cadre and 46,15% of the cases were import cases. As a guidance, the cadre used clinical and malaria symptoms as follows; fever (>37.5°C) with sweaty, chill, pale, nausea, vomit and muscle pain. Among that symptoms sweaty and vomit could differentiate the positive from negative cases, the presence of malaria trained cadre give a positive impact to case finding and treatment activity in this remote area.Keyword: malaria trained cadre, case finding activity
